Foundation
The Jackson Health Care Foundation, Inc. was formed in September 1983, by a group of volunteers concerned about the future or health care in the Jackson, Minnesota area
Many residents and former residents of the Jackson area wanted to support the medical facilities in Jackson with bequests, memorials or donations, but they either did not know how, found it difficult, or were concerned as to how their funds would be handled.
The JHCF is a non-profit organization that is independent of the City of Jackson and the Jackson Medical Center- It provides an easy vehicle for people to support health care services and education in the Jackson area with their tax deductible donations and bequests.
Gifts given to JHCF may be restricted (earmarked for a specific purpose), or they may be unrestricted. Gifts which are unrestricted are preferred as such gifts allow the board to use them where the need is the greatest. All gifts, however, are encouraged and will be received with gratitude.
RECOGNITIONA living memorial tree, known as the Tree Of Life, was designed and constructed by Steve Wolf to recognize those who have given to the Jackson Health Care Foundation.
A gift of $500 to $5,000 will grow a new leaf on the walnut and brass tree. A gift of $5000 or more will secure a boulder at the base the tree. These may be engraved with the donor's name, or the name of a loved one to provide a visual expression of the donor's loving tribute. The Tree Of Life is on permanent display in the lobby of the Jackson Medical Center.
ENDOWMENTSThe Jackson Health Care Foundation currently manages two endowments of nearly $500,000. In addition, a perpetual fund of over $350,000 was established during the fund drive for the construction of the clinic at the Jackson Medical Center. Together, these income sources generate over $45,000 annually.
The long range goal of the JHCF is to have a large enough asset base to generate enough funding for ongoing improvements at the Jackson Medical Center and in meeting the health care needs of the Jackson area,
DISBURSEMENTSThrough the generosity of many donations and bequests, the Jackson Health Care Foundation has been able to give over $1 million towards the Jackson Medical Center. The construction of the Jackson Medical Center clinic in 1992 and the 1998-99 renovation project highlight the expenditures made by the JHCF. In addition, the Foundation has given over $22,000 to the Jackson Ambulance Service.
